Travel Bucket ListMy bucket list is extensive and intense.  Like, 40+ pages intense.  And, it is a never-ending work in progress.  I am continuously adding, altering, changing, and updating it.  I love discovering new things, learning about new destinations, being inspired to try something new, etc.  So, my bucket list serves as a reminder to me of the massive, exciting, ever-changing world.  Do I think I will accomplish everything on my bucket list?  I sure hope so!  Anything is possible!

I hope that my bucket list can inspire you to create your own or to venture into a new journey.  And, I am excited to take you on my own personal journey of conquering my bucket list while creating unforgettable memories and striving for an extraordinary life. Make sure you check out all my other Bucket Lists!  Without further adieu, here is my general Travel Bucket List with my Travel Experiences, Entertainment, Adventure, Animals, and Food and Drink lists!  Keep in mind that I will be constantly adding and editing items on this list.  And, let me know if I should add anything else!

Travel Experiences

  • Climb a Lighthouse
  • ✓ Celebrate a holiday in a different country – “Thanksgiving” in the Bahamas, “Fourth of July” in London, “Fourth of July” again in Spain/Portugal, “Thanksgiving” in Luxembourg, Germany, and Switzerland (it was a long day!)
  • ✓ Collect at least 10 country stamps in my passport – Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, France, Monaco, Italy, Vatican City, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Croatia, Montenegro, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Spain, Lisbon, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Russia, and Denmark (updated July 2019)
  • ✓ Drive in a foreign country – Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands
  • ✓ Fly first class 
  • ✓ Fly in a private jet
  • ✓ Get a world map and put pins on the places I’ve been
  • ✓ Go to a Civil War battlefield
  • ✓ Go island hopping in the Caribbean in a yacht – Around the Virgin Islands 
  • Go to a place for Christmas where there is lots of snow
  • ✓ Go on a Disney Cruise
  • ✓ Go on a cruise – A Disney cruise, Royal Caribbean cruise, Windstar Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas cruise
  • Go on a Safari
  • Go on a health retreat
  • Go apple picking in an orchard
  • ✓ Go on a vacation somewhere by myself – Several places around the US and three separate Europe trips
  • ✓ Ride in a Limousine
  • Ride in a Tuk Tuk
  • ✓ Ride on a cable car – San Fransisco
  • ✓ Ride on a Subway – All over from New York City to London to Budapest
  • Ride the Trans Siberian Railway
  • ✓ See a famous Fountain – I have seen many (last time the Trevi Fountain in Rome)
  • ✓ Sleep on the beach
  • ✓ Sleep in an Overnight train – Milan, Italy to Munich, Germany
  • Spend Christmas somewhere exotic
  • Spend New Years somewhere exotic
  • ✓ Spend the night in a historic hotel
  • Stay at a bed and breakfast
  • Stay in the best suite in a 5-star hotel
  • Stay in an ice hotel
  • Stay in a Treehouse
  • Stay at an underwater hotel
  • ✓ Stay at a Dude Ranch
  • Stomp grapes at a vineyard
  • Step foot on all 7 continents

  • ✓ Travel solo – Many, many times 
  • Travel to 50 countries (32/50)
  • Visit every capital in Europe (18/46)
  • Visit all 50 states
  • Visit a ghost town
  • Visit a temple
  • ✓ Visit a cat cafe – In Budapest (and I want to do visit every single one in the world!)
  • ✓ Visit a castle – Windsor Castle, Stirling Castle, Neuschwanstein… There are A LOT more
  • Visit the New 7 Wonders of the World

    • Great Wall of China

Entertainment

I can check off a lot of my items that relate to entertainment on my Bucket List when I travel.  However, some items can happen here at home in Memphis, TN 🙂

  • Attend a film premiere

    In a parade with my friend, Sarah Townsend Leech

  • Attend the NCAA Championship game
  • Attend the Super Bowl
  • Attend a Luau
  • ✓ Attend the World Series – New York City
  • Attend a soccer game against two rival European soccer teams
  • ✓ Attend a foam party – Destin, FL
  • Attend a Murder Mystery Dinner
  • ✓ Attend a wedding in a different country – Cartagena, Colombia 
  • ✓ Be in a commercial – I was in several as a child
  • ✓ Be in a parade – In the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Beale Street in Memphis (TWICE!)
  • ✓ Drink at an ice bar – Las Vegas 
  • ✓ Experience a Cirque du Soleil show –“Love” in Las Vegas and Michael Jackson’s “One” in Las Vegas
  • Get a Caricature Drawing by a Street Artist
  • ✓ Go see a Broadway Play – I love musicals.  Every chance I have, I see Broadway plays here in Memphis at the Orpheum.  But, I have actually seen several Broadway Plays on Broadway — “Cats,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Memphis,” “Finding Neverland”
  • ✓ Go to the ballet
  • Go to the Olympics
  • Go to a NASCAR race
  • Go on a Safari
  • ✓ Go to an Aquarium
  • Have my palm read – A couple of times in New Orleans 
  • Make a hole in one – Outer Banks, NC… Well, this happened in putt-putt golf, but it counts in my book! 🙂

Adventure

Again, I can check off the majority of my items that relate to adventure on my Bucket List when I travel.  Also, please note, I am not an adventurous soul.  I could add a thousand more items on this list, but “adventure” is not my cup of tea 🙂  Therefore, some of these items below were a big deal for me to complete!

  • Dive a shipwreck
  • ✓ Climb an indoor climbing wall 
  • Drive around a racetrack
  •   Explore a cave
  • ✓ Go deep-sea fishing 
  • Go on a canopy tour
  • ✓ Go parasailing
  • Go rock climbing
  • Go skiing – I use to ski a lot when I was a child (last time in Switzerland)
  • ✓ Go snorkeling 
  • ✓ Go whitewater rafting 
  • ✓ Go zip lining – Las Vegas and Alaska
  • Go zorbing
  • Indoor Skydive
  • ✓ Jump off a cliff into a body of water – Jamaica
  • ✓ Participate in a giant water balloon fight – My family does one every year in Destin, FL!
  • Ride in a helicopter
  • Ride a motorcycle
  • Ride ATV’s
  • Ride in a hot air balloon
  • ✓ Ride a Segway – Spain… and, it was SO MUCH FUN!
  • ✓ Ride in a Seaplane – Vancouver, Canada
  • ✓ Sail in a yacht – In the Virgin Islands and in Hawaii 
  • ✓ Swim with stingrays – Several times in the Cayman Islands
  • Swim/dive with sharks
  • ✓ Walk on a suspension bridge – In Vancouver

 Animals and Nature

Like my adventure list, I can check off the majority of my items that relate to animals and nature on my Bucket List when I travel.

 

  • ✓ Adopt an animal – Clark Gable and Grace Kelly from the House of Mews (SIDE NOTE: they are the loves of my life…. I could do an entire blog on how they are so awesome and precious)
  • Bathe and feed an elephant
  • Monkeying around in South America

    ✓  Build a snowman

  • Chase a tornado (meh, maybe)
  • ✓ Explore a Rain Forest – The Tongass National Rain Forest in Alaska
  • Feed a Koala Bear
  • ✓ Go whale watching – In Hawaii and Alaska 
  • ✓ Go to a wildlife refuge – In Sitka, Alaska for Raptors and Bears
  • ✓ Hold a monkey – Colombia 
  • ✓ Kiss a Sting Ray – Jamaica 
  • Milk a cow
  • ✓ Pet a kangaroo – Busch Gardens
  • Plant a tree
  • ✓ Ride a camel – Jamaica
  • ✓ Ride a dolphin – Hawaii and in Jamaica
  • ✓ Ride a horse on the beach – In Jamaica
  • Release baby turtles into the ocean
  • Relax in a Natural Hot Spring
  • See the Northern Lights
  • See a volcano erupt
  • ✓ See a Blowhole
  • Swim with the Manatees
  • ✓ Swim with the Sting Rays – Sting Ray City in the Cayman Islands
  • Swim with the Pink Dolphins
  • Swim with sea turtles
  • See a Coral Reef
  • See the Salmon Run

  • Stand under a waterfall
  • Watch the sunrise and sunset in one day

Food and Drink

Like I said, I am not the most adventurous spirit and I am not a foodie.  So, there could be a lot more items on this list… My cousin is a chef, so maybe I will get her to do a guest post on her food and drink bucket list!
